The pinewood derby is schedule for February 7th at Lord of the hills from 12-3. This date may be pushed back 2 weeks if we do not receive our track timer on time.
There will be a preliminary weigh-in on February 3rd at canyon creek from 6:30 – 7:30pm and a final weigh-in at noon at lord of the hills.
The pinewood derby rules are as follows:
- The car weight shall not exceed 5.0 ounces.
- The overall length of the car shall not exceed 7 inches.
- The overall width of the car shall not exceed 2 ¾ inches.
- The car must have 1 ¾” clearance between the wheels.
- The car must have 3/8” clearance underneath the body.
- The wood provided in the kit must be used. The block may be shaped any way that is desired.
- The wheels supplied with the kit must be used. The wheels may not be cut, drilled, beveled or bounded. You may remove the seam from the wheels.
- The axles (nails) supplied with the kit must be used. They may be polished or lubricated.
- Wheel bearings, washers or bushings are prohibited.
- The car must not ride on any type of springs.
- The car must be freewheeling, with no starting devices.
- No loose material of any kind, such as lead shot, may be used.
- The front of the car may not be shaped to a point or fork.
- Scout needs to do the majority of the work on the car.
- Car must be built this year.
- Details such as the steering wheel, driver, decals, painting, and interior detail are permissible as long as these details do not exceed the maximum length, width and weight of specifications.
