Pack 803 needs volunteers

March 23, 2009

Pack 803 needs volunteers. Pack 803’s leaders and committee members are trained by the Boy Scouts of America and offer a quality scouting and educational experience. We can not do this without a ready supply of volunteers across which to distribute responsibilities. We are finding ourselves in a position of needing to do more and more with fewer and fewer people. Our current volunteers have finite time and energy to devote and like the rest of us have normal jobs and lives to lead.

We need volunteers to run various activities. We need volunteers for specific events the pack holds. We need volunteers for specific pack administrative functions. The bottom line is that pack 803 needs more volunteers. We are an entirely donation and privately funded organization. We can not maintain debt or pay employees. All that currently work for the pack do so of their own free will and good nature. The current volunteers are finding that their time is rather stretched doing so many things for the pack. We need more volunteers to spread the load out more evenly. We need more committee members to represent the pack more effectively.

You can become a committee member or leader by simply attending meetings and filling out an adult application. Committee members all contribute to the decision making process of the pack and it’s activities. Leaders directly implement the scouting program and instruct the children. Pack 803 will pay the adult application fees. Some basic web based training is required at a minimum which takes about 20 minutes to accomplish. Some may wish to adopt more active roles with the scouts and will require further detailed training that the pack will also reimburse the volunteers for upon completion of the training and the pack receiving a copy of the training certificate for our records.

We help your child develop into a mature well-respected member of the community through the scouting program. We can not do this alone! You are a critical part of your child’s development and as such should take opportunities to further this development by volunteering.
